A look at the lives and loves of a group of high school students. It's the final year of high school for Brad Hamilton who decides he should break up with his longtime girlfriend to play the field. He's at a loss however when she breaks up with him first. Jeff Spicoli continues to take delight in getting under the skin of his teacher, Mr. Hand. Others are looking for love, sex and just plain having a good time which, for the most part, they all seem to find though sometimes in unexpected places

20 for Van Halen tickets in the 1st 10 rows. uuuuhhh I'll take those please. The whole bit about “planet history/space history” wasnt in the original movie so it makes me wonder if that was actually in the script or if it was improv. He is great bc no one knows if he joking.

Brad was for sure fixing his hair between ever cut. Hilarious.  I love how at 1:35 Spicolo honestly thinks about Mr. Hand's question.  That is the best pause in movie history.

I always saw myself in Desmond

Damn Brad looks hott I love his hair and smile.

Why isn't this film widely recognised as a classic? The large majority of people whom I mention it to haven't even heard of it, let alone seen it. Threes company locations, please. Shia out here actin out the whole scene while everybody else just reads. That's a great actor. Wow, I saw this again recently and didn't notice that was Nicolas Cage! Also I hadn't noticed Judge being the Employee of the Month either.

Nicholas Cage at 1:22, server on the right. He grins Shia: 0_0. I was born in 1976 and consider myself more of the X one that never really knew a world without AIDS and the prominence of the religious right. I saw this movie for the first time in 1999 and almost blew my popcorn across the room. Was there really ever a time when a teenager had an abortion without protesters in front of the clinic? Was sex quite that loose and unprotected, without the possibility of death hanging over it? Since this movie was made during the time period it is supposed to portray (as opposed to movies like "Dazed and Confused. I can only assume that's the way things were, at least in the high school Crowe examined. It's a real shock to me with my high school perspective of the early and mid-1990s to see this movie.
Of course, I realize that most films made involving any sex at all never really confront AIDS or anything else negative, so I guess this film shouldn't have shocked me so much. Maybe it's the really blunt nature of the sexual content that makes it stand out from most teenage dreck. I will mention that the sexual content is fairly realistic, not having the almost pornlike quality of most teenage films, where the pleasure seems like the only end to a scene.
Aside from all that, the film rolls along just fine for the most part, my personal favorite parts involve the humiliation of working in a fast food place. I can relate. I am grateful no one made me wear a paper hat in public.

I DON'T KNOW. I must have read this wrong because I thought brad was going to get beaten with a cane by the manager.

Van Halen tickets, first 10 rows, 20. I'll take 10 please

I've always had a crush on Mathew❤❤❤❤. I have judge Reinholds autograph! Via mail. THE teen movie of the 1980s. Hell, THE movie of the 1980s. Sean Penn was so lovable and cuddly when he was just an urchin. Let's be honest. If a teacher told you to go and fetch a student who you knew was skipping, you wouldn't go get him and come right back to class. You'd walk around the whole school, come back with 5 minutes left and say you couldn't find him. Also... Could you get Kevin Hart and Sequel O'neal to do a remake of the Movie TWINS. that would be so cool... It's just a thought... lol.

Shaun looks like Iggy Pop.

Best high school movie ever. Very accurate about how the politics of high school worked. LOL, That bagel sticking out of Spicoli's pants. My dad told me he was a total spicoli in high what even. I worked in the catalog and returns department at JCPenney back in the late 90s, i.e. the customer service department) and I was ordered by my manager to do inventory checks (mostly paper work stuff behind a desk) while 2 other people were supposed to watch the counter. Somebody who ordered a couch through the catalog department needed it hauled into her husband's truck (why he wasn't with her I don't know, it was well after 5 p.m.) so both of the guys on counter duty were occupied. Some old lady who wanted to return a pair of shoes came to the counter and was incessantly shouting for somebody to take her return. I tried to calmly tell her that the employees manning the counter would be back shortly and that I wasn't permitted to use the register while another employee was signed in on it (that was new technology at the time. After about a minute of her screaming at me I suddenly got a box of shoes thrown in my face. Gotta love that the customer is always right concept, it's the foundation of every case of verbal abuse directed at retail and food service workers in the world.
